Stop Hiding

Message 1 of 4 from the series Stop it!

To hide is to put or keep out of sight. To hide is also to conceal from the view or notice if others.

We hide by not showing up, not being our authentic selves,  living below our genius, dummying down who we are and what we can do, withholding, and holding back.

It’s time to stop hiding and…

Be Clothed (Adam and Eve: Genesis 3)

"Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths. And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?”" Genesis‬ ‭3‬:‭7‬-‭9‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Instead of coming to the Lord, we tend to hide and cover ourselves in shame and guilt.  When confronted we then begin to play the blame game and hide behind excuses.

"And the Lord God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins and clothed them." Genesis‬ ‭3‬:‭21‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Stop hiding and be clothed. Whatever you try to cover yourself up is insufficient. Be clothed by God and receive the covering, discipline, and protection you need.

Realize when you try to hide, you’re hiding in plain sight.

Take Your Royal Place (Saul: 1 Samuel 10:17-27)

"He brought the tribe of Benjamin near by its clans, and the clan of the Matrites was taken by lot; and Saul the son of Kish was taken by lot. But when they sought him, he could not be found. So they inquired again of the Lord, “Is there a man still to come?” and the Lord said, “Behold, he has hidden himself among the baggage.” Then they ran and took him from there. And when he stood among the people, he was taller than any of the people from his shoulders upward." ‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭10‬:‭21‬-‭23‬ ‭ESV‬‬

You know you are called and have been activated but you're still hiding. The reality is you can hide from people but you can’t hide from God. When necessary, He will call you out, tell on you, and expose you. Stop hiding and realize how big you are in the Spirit. Stop hiding behind your baggage and other people’s too. Stop hiding from your calling and step into your royal place.

Complete Your Assignment (Jonah: Jonah 1)

"But Jonah rose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. He went down to Joppa and found a ship going to Tarshish. So he paid the fare and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish, away from the presence of the Lord." ‭‭Jonah‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Some of us are hiding because we don’t want to do what the Lord has called you to do or go where He is trying to send us.

"Then the men were exceedingly afraid and said to him, “What is this that you have done!” For the men knew that he was fleeing from the presence of the Lord, because he had told them." Jonah‬ ‭1‬:‭10‬ ‭ESV‬‬

People are willing to let you and help you hide until it starts affecting them.

Stop hiding and complete your God given assignment. Where is the Lord causing disruption in your life? He’s using it to bring you out of hiding. Address the issues of what’s leading you to hide so you can stop rebelling against the Lord and do what He instructed you to do.

Let Your Light Shine (Matthew 5:13-16)

"“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house." Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭14‬-‭15‬ ‭ESV‬‬ 

Stop hiding and let your light shine. Stop dimming your light and robbing God of His glory. Stop hiding your good works.

No More Hiding!

Stop hiding. You and your ministry and business can no longer be a best kept secret. Come out of hiding and live out loud!
